In math today we said that a piece of grid paper was a ones cube, ten of them is a tens block, and one hundred of them was a hundreds block. Then we went back to the ones cube and made 1/10 of that which is 1 full row of connected smaller squares, then we split that in half and had a tiny square. After that we split that into ten pieces and used one of the pieces. We said that if you move left you multiply by ten and if you move right you divide by ten.
At the end of last week during science, students researched the 4 Earth Subsystems: Hydrosphere, Geosphere, Biosphere, and Atmosphere. Students worked in groups to find out more about each system!
What we did today in science, math, writing and reading.
Today we used base ten blocks to divide 2 digit dividends and 1 digit divisors. .We also used multiplication to check our answer.
Welcome to 5th Grade! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and is excited for the upcoming year. I look forward to meeting all my students on Monday!
What we learned in class today is about the Titanic and that famous people boarded the large vessel. Construction workers told that the ship was unsinkable, but they were wrong. Multiple famous people were killed because of the captain ignoring the warning. The ship sank and broke in half. To this day the ship lies on the Atlantic Ocean floor.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Today in Science we, have been observing the anoles in our terrariums. We came up with names for them, fed them crickets and watered their habitats. In math we have moved out of coordinate planes and quadrilaterals and into triangles. In reading group we each got to play a role in a play! We started PARCC testing last week and have been continuing it through this week. From, Chase and Samantha Dear parents,
This week we have been working on coordinates in math, we only are using the first quadrant. With mrs. Proctor we looked at coordinates on Google maps. Also, this past week us kids have been debating each other. Before we all had to debate each other we actually took a look at the other sides argument. The debates were school uniforms, year round school, and contact sports. Your friends, Jinan and Bennett |
