In class we are learning about figurative language .In P.E we did stations & kept track of calories .In art we are doing animal drawings and in music we are working on a recorder piece.
In writing we are learning about Roots. Latin/Greek roots. we made a chart. It has the root, meaning, and word.
For example , the root "spect" means to look and it is in spectate or speculation. In reading we read the poem "Casey at the bat". It was about Casey who thinks he is the best at baseball. But, he strikes out and his team loses. Hello Parents,
This week we have been working on multiplication and division. We have been using the Standard Algorithm, and in gym we have been learning about nutrition and eating healthy. Hello Parents,
This week in class we worked on conversions in the Metric and Customary system. We are moving into Multiplication and Division. In Writing, we have been using the R.A.C.E. strategy to write about our reading. The R stands for restate, the A stands for answer, the C stands for cite text evidence, and the E stands for explain. In Social Studies we have been reading and writing about the lifestyle of the first Native Americans in North America. Today in math, our class used the Metric System to solve math problems with decimals and standard numbers. Here is an example of how the Metric System works. Say you have the number 7.54cm, what you do is you have to figure out how many meter's are in 7.54cm. Then you see if the number is biggest to smallest, or smallest to biggest. Then you see how far it is until you get to 1 meter. Say it's 1/100 centi to get to 1 meter so, you multiply 7.54x100 or 10 to the second. Then you can use a place value chart to get the answer. If you multiply, you move the numbers in the decimal to the left. If you divide, you move the numbers in the decimals to the right. Then you will get your answer.
Today in class at math we are working on identify and apply patterns of place value with powers of ten like for example : 10 to the frist power , 10 to the second power , 10 to the third power , and 10 to the fourth power and we did 1\10 , and 1\100.
Dear, parents
This week we have been working on tracking point of view. Today we read a book and answered two questions. The questions are what is the point of view. Number two how would the story change if the point of view changed. By: Lauren and Emily |
