What we learned in math is about multiplying a fraction times a whole number, a fraction times a fraction, creating word problems, and how to read these problems. For example: 1/5 x 2 = 2/10 or 1/2 x 6/12 = 6/24 or Maddy had 1/2 of a garden. 6/12 of the garden have flowers. How many flowers did Maddy have? How you read these problems is instead of using times, you use the word of. For example: 1/5 x 2 becomes 1/5 of 2, or 1/2 x 6/12 becomes 1/2 of 6/12.
